Small swim beach today with some potential..there's iron pipes in the ground (or something) which masks a lot. So's I digs me a couple bucks of clad and then this ring was my last target as I was about to leave anyway. Surprised, I pocket it sand and all and leave. I believed it to be real for a good ten minutes but realized it is glass or something else cheap. Thing would have been about two carrots. The worn off silver plating was a heads up but I thought(hoped) it might be tarnished. Probably looked pretty convincing new. Gotta laugh!

The photo in the center with the sparkle in the stone adds to the letdown. Looks good from here. Better luck next time. Beach Papa

Still a nice recovery considering the obstacles in the area. I would have been excited to see it in the scoop :)

Sorry about that ring , donkarlos..I know how you feel because I have found my fair share of those heartbreakers.

I wish you the best hunting in your next time out.

Thanks. It is fun finding rings and figuring them out anyway. I did test it regardless. .didn't even get one bar on the tester. I think maybe 15% of my rings are of any value, not including the sterling silver ones.

It's better to find a junk ring than no ring at all.

Unfortunately, everybody has to dig their share of junk. I tell myself that if it were easy, everybody would be doing it. I have also had my share of goodies that turned out to be not so good. Last winter, I was on a beach in Curacao and with about 10 people watching found a thick necklace in the scoop. I quickly put it away so not to attract more attention and did not take it out of "hiding" until I got back to the resort, when I unveiled it to my wife. I was thinking gold. It turned out to be silver with only a $60 scrap value. What a let down... Still, better than another Curacao penny or a pull tab.

Yep they're pretty much all fun.
Made up a little bit for it today with a thin silver ring and Eco-drive watch. My first watch..

Nice looking watch, hopefully works or easy repair. I would wear it :)

It's waterproof to 330' but it stopped (battery?) on a Thursday the 13th which would have been last March. Was in dry sand.

Just had an older bulova I've had for many years repaired for just a few bucks at a local watch repair/jewelers. Even if you resell it might be worth a few bucks in repairs. Glass isn't fogged so that's always good

To bad its not real. Seeing that in the scoop would be a heart stopper for me to.

I know how you feel on that ring. I have been getting my fair share of them. I am getting tired of titanium and tungsten carbide. Got a nice 6.5 gram sterling silver this weekend, but it takes a lot of silver to equal one gold ring!
