Found this a while back on a east coast Florida beach at the crash sites. Not quite a spike but don't have much info on it. Would appreciate any input. Thanks

Looks like an old worn concrete nail for furring strips. What are the crash sites?

I forget exactly, a friend in the area brought me there a while back. Think it was Sebastian area if I'm not mistaken.

That's the post I've been waiting for! It's not iron so I guess it's bronze or something. Doesn't stick to a magnet.

Then its an old ships nail - either bronze or copper. I suspect bronze because it isn't green. Maybe Gator Boy will be around to id it, he found plenty that look like it.

Cool item, but I guess it wouldn't hold any sort of value other then the possibility that it could have been sailing the seas a very long time ago. Thanks for your input. Sent from my iPhone using TreasureNet

Its a piece of history. Therefore its priceless. Monetary value is only what someone is willing to pay for it.

FWIW, I bought these at a garage sale for $10. They look great hanging on the wall in my living room.

I wondered about those things. There was a beach in the Caribbean, that the old sailing vessels anchored in the shallow water, that a hotel owner told me about. There was ballast everywhere. He said the worms in the warm water would eat the wood and some sank. He used hotel staff to walk around in bare feet and advise when they felt a cannon. He retrieved a number of iron cannons plus one small deck bronze cannon. There were also lots of those spikes, which is why he stopped that discovery method.
