I would never fess up to loosing a pouch, especially if it was full of the day's diggings.
BUT if anyone should dig up a Miller scoop in Long Island Sound, Connecticut side...I do the the owner.
No, I am not the owner, but I do use a tether on my scoop because of the loss.
I am loving this hobby that yields so many surprises and generates so many questions.

LOL, I gotta be honest here, I have dug up a lot of strange things on the beach in my life, BUT never a pouch full of coins.

Funny u mention silver jewelry box, I did find one of them years ago. It was about the size of an open palm, turned out to be nickel and full of sewing gear, thread and needles, even a thimble.

Well lets see; There's re-fried beans, re-chewed gum and now re-dugged coins. Ok, got it!:laughing7:

I wonder what settings or detector he was using, where are all the pull tabs and bottle caps?

Any detectorist worth his salt would have gone back and detected the pouch himself. The guy must have died. Go back and find the body, Gold teeth and rings ...
If he lost it in the water, currents could have taken it away pretty quick.
