I've had both the 720i and the 920i and prefer the 720i. Why? The 920i fills up too fast while scooping because it's too shallow (for me)! It doesn't mean it's not a great scoop it's just the deeper design and narrower basket works better in the wet and dry sand for me!
I need less width for the sand and a more focused contour of the scoop.
All IMHO of course.

I have the 920 and am really glad i went 920 vs 720. I use all 10inch+ coils so the the width has helped me so much lately. Depth has never been my problem, its pinpointing.

I am lucky to live near Chuck and have consulted on designs. Each of us is different in what we like and this changes on what location we're hunting. For instance I prefer the 90 degree handle as I feel it helps when lifting it up in short hops to remove sand. I have never broken a handle.

Sandman, I try to tell everyone that the 90 degree is easier to use but no one seems to believe me! I've used and still have both an angled Trex and 90 deg 720i, but prefer the 90 because it easier to dig deep holes by using the "short hop" method you mentioned.

I believe the angled handle's only advantage is in placing the point down in deeper water so your kisser doesn't get wet. Why raise the basket with all the weight of sand and rocks?
