Utility pocket knife and a "heart-breaker" & " wanna be gold" ring today at low tide

Hi again,

Sunny day out at the beach late morning full of fresh air:headbang:

Found a good condition American Line brand pocket knife; was able to open the blade, but now I can't close it.:BangHead:..even after reading the instructions:
American Line Pro Folding Utility Knife 65 0203 with 6 Bladesincluded New | eBay

Should I maybe try just a bit of oiling to help solve the problem? I'd like to close the blade;

Also found a "gold looking "ring that , although is a pretty style, is "junque"

Well.....maybe next time.

Here's some pics

Thanks for looking

Lorraine

"Junque" is that just a skosh better than Junk? :-) as for the utility knife, it couldn't hurt to give it a good soaking in something like WD40 and let it sit for 24 hours..... carefully wipe it off before trying to close the blade..... hopefully that will work.

Maybe it's has a release botton? which I'm sure you've looked at. As new as it looks it should close. Does the blade have to be retracted before closing? HELL! Beat the hell out of it with a hammer! :tongue3: :tongue3: :dontknow:

Yes, it has a release button that won't budge; the blade was partially closed when I retrieved it from the mud, but after I pulled it open fully, there was no going back : >(

Not sure if the blade has to be retracted before closing...I don't know a thing about knives of that sort.

soaking in WD oil at present.

I see both the blade release button and the folding lock button on your utility knife. A little bit of corrosion on either button will prevent operation. After you oil bath, if that doesn't release the button, try a white vinegar bath to dissolve or loosen the corrosion. after the vinegar bath, light tapping on the button with a small hammer may be necessary, but by the looks of it you should be able to get it back into operation. Good Luck. at least you got out today, that is a blessing in itself. HH

Nice looking junk ring and hope the next one is the real deal. Maybe you can get the knife loosened up and use it. HH.
