Hi :hello:

Beautiful day today; got out for a couple of hours low tide mud hunting.

Got stuck in an area with loads of quarters...never found so many in such a small area ( approx. 10'x10').

Amid the quarters, I heard a nice "silver " sound, and when I scooped up the mud, was able to target the sound, but saw nothing except some mud and shells; I "zeroed" in on a shell the size of a "jigger"( the ones for measuring liquor) which was packed with mud and weeds; scraped out the mud and weeds, and there was a beautiful crucifix in the center of the shell!

It looked " iffy " for silver ;:icon_scratch: got home, cleaned it, tested it with acid test kit ( only marking on the back was "ITALY").

Well, the acid test was positive, but I was not convinced;??? started picking at the metal, and sure enough...off comes some of the coating like aluminum foil :BangHead: .

Next time....:headbang:

Here's a couple of pics

thanks for reading me post and viewing my finds

Yea those quarters sound good. Maybe someone lost a roll and it broke apart. I hate getting fooled, but at the same time its an adrenaline rush. Like when you scoop up the fake ice. I havent been getting much down here. Tell Hank i changed the grip on my driver and im hitting to the back of the range. See if i can keep it in the fairway.

I certainly will tell Hank, Sponge; right now he's dealing with a rotator cuff tear from his accident; P/T ...no golf for a while; he's having withdrawal symptoms, but next week's US OPEN will keep him in good spirits

I like when I find more quarters than pennies...I think the most Ive found on a hunt is 19...clad adds up when you find it like you did...nice crucifix regardless...glad your getting out again...good luck on your next hunt.

Nice haul! Turn your sensitivity up. If you are finding that many quarters then you are missing out on the nickels....ie...the gold.

That shell with the crucifix inside was a message from your sister that she is fine - she is with the Lord.

Nice finds, Lorraine. Too bad it wasn't silver cross, but you sure scored on the clad. I've been wanting to try detecting one handed, but think I better try to be patient until I can use both hands. At least I might be able to go to a coin show Saturday.
