What do we have not 9 people dead from bacteria? Last one i read about was from Tampa. With the paddle board craze we have a lot more out a lot farther where the sharks are.

I hate sharks! Going on a girls trip in September to Destin, guess all I will put in the water is my toes.

I wear my dive knife often incase one ever wants to tangle. I hear it's wise to slice their gills but I'll be slamming it through the top of it's skull if I can still see it after playing the human squid!
The only problem is keeping it wear the coil won't pick it up.
I've noticed while wearing it the typical questions seem to come to a slow....which is nice. The quickest way out of the conversation seems to be, "just getting started!"
As far as the sharks go, it's getting spooky out there!

YES! All metal detecting in the water should stop immediately.
All of you should get out of the water, and stay out until late September when the shark season is over.
It is for your own safety.
I will be monitoring conditions (willing to make the personal sacrifice) and occasionally 'test' the waters with my detector.
I will let you all know when it is safe for you to go back in.
But for now, to be safe, stay up on the dry sand please.
Stay out of the water with your detector and stay alive!

Sharks dislike toes. They prefer lady fingers.

Sharks don't come in to wading depth because of the box jellies. ;-)
Great pictures.

ahem.... September is when the water starts to cool off, a little too cool for me to go hunting in, so let's not be un-scaring people back into the water~
I'd like to find some gold this season...

I was on south beach this past Sunday and I had a 5 to 6 foot shark approach me!!! I was in waist high water and I had to nudge it away my scoop. I tell you the water ran yellow as i did that and I high tailed it out of the water.......of course 20 min later I was back in it again.
