First time ever, Pd ring on gifted V3i

My birthday is coming up and my father in law gifted me one of his used V3i's early. So for my first time out I hit the beach in hopes of finding something fantastic but most bottle caps and loose change. Later came back with my brother in tow and found a lovely little Palladium band. Not bad for my first time out. However I have a feeling I have allot of techniques to learn. If any one has any good resources please share.
