Got a tip about some old silver coins still being found where a new board walk has been built(post hurricane sandy). My buddy pulled a 1916 barber dime. I found this 1911 British half Sovereign one scoop down! My first gold coin and hopefully not the last. Thanks for looking, GL HH Mike image.jpg image.jpg

Funny, the only reason I hunted this high was because a local guy who hunts for mainly gold told my buddy and I that he was still finding some older silver coins in that area. So we decided heck, silver coins aren't all that bad. Never thought I would pull a gold coin. When they rebuilt the board walk they removed all the sand from underneath and spread it across the existing dry sand area. Let's just say I'll be there again tomm:thumbsup:

That is just what they did a few years back to a potion of our boardwalk out here! Many old silvers were found, but no gold coins this time. During past projects they have turned up! I keep watching for a new remodel of the old boardwalk!! 8-)

Congratz on an amazing find!

I appreciate all the positive comments guys. I posted this coin over in today's finds and barely got any likes or comments. I guess I should have included the words "gold coin" in my title lol. Thanks again, Mike

Thanks, I'm not worried about that. If someone goes there and finds another one God bless them. I'll buy them breakfast.
It takes a lot of work to find gold in the dry sand, silver coins are easy.
