Hey everyone, I went beach hunting the other day and dropped a new set of batteries into my sand shark and went off hunting with everything (knobs) set to my normal positions. After about fifteen minutes I started getting suspicious that it wasn't working correctly. After intentionally passing the coil over some metal it definitely did not detect I removed the batteries and waited a minute and then reinstalled them and all was good again. Have any of you had this happen?

Yeah, it had a excellent threshold and seemed normal except it didn't respond to metal. I just pulled the holder out and reinstalled it. I left the batteries in the holder in the original positions.

Never had that happen before. You need to call Tesoro.

Did you remove the detector from a cold car into hot environment ?
Could have had condensation on board. ?

No, it came out of my jeep (top open) on a 75* day. I think I'm going to do as Terry suggested and call Tesoro. I was just hoping someone else had ran into this issue.

I had this happen to me and I had one of the knobs set to "F set" accidently which is the feature that allows you to adjust the frequency of the threshold to better suit your hearing. I scanned for about an hour wondering WTF, no signals, beach must be REALLY clean. Then, I looked at the controls and noticed this. I switched it to the proper setting and all worked fine.

Other than checking the above, batteries, it's time to call Tesoro.

Yup, I just got off the phone with Tessoro. The technician had not heard of this but asked me to keep using it to see if it happens again. The good news is they have my warranty information on file properly! Lol.
