I know on the Excal and Sovereign GT it has to be one of the Hottest coils made. Only problem Hot means she does not like the saltwater. Good Luck and Hope you can get a answer to the DFX question.

My Excal 2 is completely stable in salt water and wet sand. I run it wide open on the sensitivity.

As OBN said, I loved the 13 Ult but on my Sov GT I had to back sens down to about 50-60% in wet salt. On land it was very stable and sensitive.

The DFX is a noisy machine and very sensitive to EMI. I tried the 12" Super coil on it and proved to be too noisy no matter where i was. I find the 9.5" coil to be ideal even with the Pre-Amp gain at 4 and sensitivity at 75 on the dry sand. In this mode it can detect a quarter at 11". Once on the wet sand i bring the pre-amp gain down to 3 and still gets 9-10 on a quarter in soaking wet sand.

Im here in Fl and have to agree with OBN. Its a lot like the WOT in that you have to start reducing the sensitivity the closer you get to the wet stuff. At the surf.... might as well used the standard. However..... i think the 9.5 is a little small. I dont know if NEL makes their new 15 for the DFX..... if they do id look at that. Big coils are just a little more chatty...... because of the amount of material thats being processed, EMI, and of course the salt. BUT the up side...... they cover more sand and most will still get you deeper targets especially in the dry.
