After 10 years of diligently checking dates, and more 1965 than I can remember, a 1952 quarter came up this week end. I had just dug a regular quarter in the wet sand and was rechecking the hole when a slightly different tone came up a foot away. It was a beauty. It is amazing these are still in circulation for anyone to loose, and in good condition. I cleaned it up with Blue Max. Also found a trinket that looks like a dream catcher, and a light .925 ear ring along with fishing weights and the usual junk.

Congratulations on the first silver...I had my first silver coin find today at the beach as well. Great feeling when the date is finally pre-1965!!

That is sadly true. They just don't come up on the tourist beaches. Did find a bronze penny from India once. I'll keep looking. :)

Wow! Not saying anything bad but I was thinking 10 yrs is a long time to not get lucky with at least 1 coin. I guess it's all in location and how often. What detector are you swinging?

Location location! A beach I regularly hit has given me 40-50 silver coins in the last 3 yrs. Silver coins are not as rare as you think if you hunt in the right area.

I've only had two from the ocean in the last seven years,
But I have about 300 for the year from local waters..so it is the location...

OBN- 300 silver in 1 yr is really impressive! Nice job!

Thanks IGH...I wish they came up clean like Teklord's but coming from saltwater most are in poor condition, still a good indicator of Gold near.
