Went down to the beach the other day to see if my luck would continue.
To my amazement, all the patches of cobble that were pushed ashore, were gone.
The Cobble patches from the days earlier were maybe 10ft long by 4 or 5 feet in width
with 15 to 20 of sand between each patch, all down the beach.

Now all smooth sand down the entire beach.
Very quite too. A few coins and small bits of melted aluminum pieces.
Seems everything got pulled back out again?
Or was it buried over with more sand?

Saw the cobble on Friday evening.
We had a small storm come thru Sunday and change everything.
So cool how mother nature works...Just wish I could have gotten one more hunt in the gravel.
Eb and flow baby!! Such is life.

Time to hit the mountains again :hello2:

Cheers

I wish I lived by a beach all the stuff in the ocean you would never know what would get washed up. Awesome

thanx for the So. CA report. Yes, CA has been bathed in relatively calm seas for over a week now. No swells have come through, especially not swells combining with high tides. So things have sanded in up in on the central coast too :(

And yes: the type rocks you speak of are not the right kind of rocks. If I'm understanding you right, those are just pebble and walnut size "roller" rocks that push in and out , but don't have the same density and shape as metal objects (coins, rings, etc....) But aluminum nuggets (little molten turds from people throwing their cans on bonfires) will mimic the feel/weight and thus be in those zones.

Other type rock features can be a good sign (to indicate sand going out). But the type you're saying is just as if it's another form of sand.

At least with the beaches, even if they get hit hard by fellow detectorists, you can be sure something new is getting washed up every day.

tony,

Odds are you melted aluminum comes from the same source as this side of the world....people burning their empty beer cans in beach fires.
