After my triple ring day I returned to the same area with my Garrett ATX. I figured I'd pick up any deeper rings. Now the ATX is deep...very deep but I was very disappointed to pick up very few coins and no jewelry at all. That same late afternoon I returned with my Dual Field and it also confirmed, sadly, that the finds vault was closed.
So the next day I went back to an older "fantastic" spot [post to foillow]. Last few months I picked up 5 gold rings, a gold bracelet and at least 20 silver chains and rings. It has been very thoroughly picked clean by both the ATX and the DF.
So I wasn't really anticipating anything too outstanding. I started hitting quite a few crusty coins so my optimism grew. A silver ring with 2 dolphins was a pleasant surprise. Then not really deep, about 4 to 5 inches my DF got a nice quarter signal. A nice yellow 14K ring rattling in my scoop! Turned out to be about 5.5g. A definitely pleasant surprise!
Quite a week for me...I must admit ...not very typical but very much appreciated. And that's how metal detecting goes!
