Hi all, iam buying my first beach detector. I am on a budget. Iam looking at the Garrett sea hunter mark 2. They have a 1 or 2 coil package. Do I need both coils? Or is the 8" enough. Is that a good detector. Also will need a long handle scoop. Have 1000 total to spend. Thanks for input.

To answer your question I would go with the stock coil, 10" if possible...

FYI, just so you know the Sea Hunter is a PI detector, it will find every tiny piece of iron ever lost. I would look for a good used Minelab Excalibur it it was me, they sell used in real good condition for $850-$950..... Check our Treasure Hunting Equipment for Sale forum...

Agreed, a used Excal is the way to go if you don't want to dig every bobby pin, screw, nail, staple, etc, made.
