I usually don't post until I find the beautiful yellow, but I thought this particular hunt was an exception. I hunted this old swimming hole for a few hours a couple weeks ago and found 2 golds. Came back to grid it and found this....

When the Excal II glided across this beautiful crucifix, it "cut-out, overloaded, freaked out (feel free to interject the proper terminology)"..like a beer/soda can. The surprise was nice. This piece is just beautiful and I am pretty sure it is quite old. If anyone has an idea on the age of it, I would appreciate you chiming in....

OBN, you asked if I found any silver coins on my last hunt at this spot...well you nailed it! The Rosie was a nice surprise. Funny thing is that I didn't find a single wheatie. And after finding that old gold ring and learning about the history of this spot, I figured I would find more silver coins.
So three silver rings, this awesome cross and another $7 in clad was the take. Oh, by the way about 20 of the quarters were found in an area about 4' in diameter...big coin spill.
Take care all you pirates!

Great job, I love that crucifix. Beautiful design! Really hard to date it other then it's marked sterling and the design. I would like to say 30's but more likely the late 40's to 50's. Just a wild guess and keep us informed if you get it dated. Scuba detector is good at that dating since he has dug just about every thing known in the water.

Anytime I find silver coins I know there is gold there...

That's a sweet silver cross.
I have had phones and cans send my Excalibur into overload. I had a large Stainless Cross give me a weird loud hollow signal but no overload. That Sterling Cross must have just enough size to upset the threshold on your Excalibur? ?
