I wanted to post this earring. I was going to throw it away because the post hook and clasp was rusted. I noticed that the rest of the earring was shinny and there was a stamp. It is stamped 18k. Have any of you seen gold earrings with the post rusted and stamped 18K? The weight is 5.6 grams Thanks

Worth a good grind and acid test I would say. I had a old ring I found marked 14k hand laid. I cut into it deep and it was still yellow, "Yes!!" but just did not feel right........well turns out it a thick layer of 14k gold laid over brass. O' well.. not good.

Yours seems heavy enough, maybe it was next to a piece of iron at one time, where the orange came from? Maybe...... you never know...Good Luck and keep us informed

Nice looking earring, slider; it could be the real thing; clean it up good and re-check it with acid test kit.

hope it is gold -
people don't think so - but even though lite usually - they can add up
this is an older pic - bout 10 yrs of hoop type earrings --10k and 14k - mostly 14k
this is about 2.5 ounces worth of gold ones - so lets say around $1000 worth of gold

what is it about the beach and those loop earrings? seems like that's the only place I find them . and they have all been fake so far.

Id say 99% of mine are from water - wobbling back and forth in the waves and water swimming works them free - I have a handful of stud earrings too
