Hi guys,

I wonder if you have any tips to share for dealing with the sun and heat while detecting. My own secret tip would probably be to get one of these water bladder backpacks, I have a Camelbak Mule and it's so much more convenient to stay hydrated when you don't have to keep grabbing a bottle or getting the backpack off. Granted it looks a bit stupid, but then again I'm walking along the beach sweeping a coil over the ground so :dontknow:

So what do you do against the heat? Light coloured, loose fitting clothes and a sombrero the size of a restaurant umbrella?

Nothing like a chest deep hunt in the ocean to keep you cool...
Wet my clothes/hat with water. Any breeze blowing through wet clothes keeps me cool enough in the heat. And avoid direst sun mid-day.

Long cap bill in front and the neck wrap does the trick for me. I learned many years ago while in the USAF not to get sunburn. That was grounds for a possible Court Marshall.
Cap is not enough under the sun...

I didn't see much heat or sun in Maryland this weekend. Was it hot? Thermostat in here says 73 degrees.

Night hunts are way more enjoyable. No eye candy but hey, it's give and take...

I had to leave the beach at 715am this morning. It was too much. If I go in the mid morning or afternoon I am going in the water.

That sucks. Over here I can at least stay until 10 or so before it gets really hot.

Lately in So Cal it's been getting REAL hot and REAL humid. by 830am I'm sweating and it's a wrap.... Thing is, I usually get out of work at 630am, have to rush to a spot and hunt it fast before everyone starts showing up and before it gets to hot. My GF has been giving me $%^& for going on night hunts and not spending "quality" time with her. I always give her the decent silvers. I guess it's time for a 10k something to get her off my back.. *Day hunts right now just aren't enjoyable*

A mask and snorkel and some scuba gear. Walla, no heat, no sun and lots of peace and quiet.

Glad I could help.

I don't know about anyone else, but, I've gotten some pretty bad sunburns out in the water If I didn't have some good waterproof sunscreen on. Of course, I get a sunburn under a high wattage light bulb! :laughing7:
