I have the 920 stealth scoop and for some reason every 5-7 hunts or so the handle starts to slide out of the scoop. It happens slowly and if I don't re-tighten it the handle eventually just slides out. Any reasons why this is happening? I have the wood handle if that makes a difference. I was thinking of putting some grip tape on it before tightening to see if that helps but idk I figured I would ask if others have that problem first and what they did to solve it.

You're in a temperate location, so really it shouldn't be expansion and contraction - but that is a reality of physics.

My handle is Ash, reputed for flexibility - a great handle for post hole diggers.

I've been in the water 15 times with mine now, and it's still tight.

I'd suggest you try a backing nut (= double nutted). Maybe that would help.

You can also use lock nuts, the nuts with nylon in the threads........

Thanks. These are very good ideas. I will look into the different bolts and locktight sounds perfect. Its not the biggest deal as it happens very slowly but it seems like every few hunts now I have to re tighten the handle or it starts to come out. After yesterday and today the handle about 1 inch higher already...

I used to use a RTG 6 inch and when I switched to a Stealth 720 my dig time was cut in half.

I had the same problem here on the Treasurecoast. I took a stainless steel wood screw and put in the wood and now it doesn't come lose any more. You might want to do the same.

Update:

I first tried some loctite and after 2 weeks I have yet to have a problem. Normally after 2-3 hunts it would start to come loose so this is a huge improvement. I am not sure it will hold forever but its definitely a big improvement. I will keep you posted if and when it does start to come loose.

I posted the same thing on mine. I had the same problem. I took a stainless steel screw and screwed it into the handle so it couldn't pull out. Another person used stainless steel clamps to hold it.
