Well I finally got to break in my Excalibur 1000 after 2 1/2 years sitting in my closet. Me and the wife hit the beaches for 6 days with alot of interesting finds. 627 coins ( $44+ ), 1 I Phone, 1 Key West bottle opener, a SIM card, nail file and 3 rings. Of course the wife has to find a ring before me but I found the best 2. Both of them are silver but a ring is a ring. I was constantly wanting to find some gold but OH well. The first ring I found in about waist deep water just outside our hotel and the second was found on the other side of the island in waist deep as well. The water hunting was extremely difficult because most of the surface had very little sand and mostly rock. But the last beach we were at had a great area of semi soft sand and that is where I found the phone, bottle opener and last ring. In all the coins we did find 3 wheat pennies. So over all it was a wonderful way to break in such a fantastic machine. I only wish there were beaches closer to me considering I live in the Austin TX area. I'm already planning my next trip to L.A in December when I go to visit my brother for Christmas for 10 days. Cannot wait. Here are a few pictures. ENJOY:occasion14:

I cleaned both rings using electrolysis

You know, you wouldn't have found anything if I brought my detector to Key West last month, soooo....your welcome.:laughing7:
No, seriously, great finds....the rings are great, and bottle opener is a useful souvenir.

I look at the forums almost every day and it's tough not to love this hobby. Wish I was closer to water. The lake and river are restricted by the a-holes of the county.

its like that where I live. You cannot get in the lake so therefore I can't magnet fish or metal detect in the water.

50 coins a day average; you where keeping busy. 1 ring per 200 coins dug, that average is up on the high end. I would think a ring a day with a 50 coin per day average. When I land hunt in the sand I am at 100 coins per ring found.
Then there is the pull tabs and bottle caps.
One lake I was at I dug up 200 shotgun shells for 1 ring. Wont go back there any time soon.
