Hit the water today metal detecting with the Excal and made the mistake of wearing my shorty wetsuit in 72 deg water for 5 hrs. I think I was covering more ground with each swing because I was shivering so much! These old bones need a full 2-3mm wetsuit in low 70s degree water. But during my shivering I hit a good target in about 4 ft of water and saw gold in the scoop. I started to have second thoughts about the ring when I went back to the car and could see something like 925 without my loop. When I got home my 10x loop revealed .916 as shown in the photos. Now I was worried it wasn't even silver (.925), but had some inventory mark and that the ring was junk. Decided to Google it [this is where my wife chimes in and says something like "You Google? The Man who knows everything?"] ...Decide to Google ".916 and wedding band" and viola - The ring is probably British and 22k gold (.916) is big there; like 14k in the USA for wedding bands. Rings in somewhere around $500. Not bad for "junk".
This cool gold ring puts me in for 6 this year and brings my coin : gold ratio to 280 : 1 for 2017. This matches my long term ratio of 250 - 300 : 1. I'm Happy. Have just one more day to MD the beach as my days are numbered here in Florida. Leave next week. One more chance for gold.

Arabic middle eastern countries and India use 22 k --which is rather soft really -- in most places over there nothing less than 18 K -750 is thought of as being gold

I found this 22k beauty a couple years ago. Took the day off work after a good storm rolled through and got rewarded :) 008.JPG 002.JPG 009.JPG
