Re: Florida's West Coast Beaches

Thanks Dell. I'm N. of Tampa 40 miles. I don't have any information on Lake Marion unless you're talking about the Lake Marion near Holopaw and in that case I do: there's a great catfish & fried anything joint on the NE side of the lake! That strip of Fla was known as the Florida Prairie and was little explored. To a large extent it still is unexplored. Gene Wiley and I made a film flying over it called (a trip to) "The Kingdom of Ais" on our way to Okeechobee. A couple of clips here: http://www.treasuresites.com/Z.htm

Good luck with your adventures, I know of no French anything in that area.

Dell:

You never know what will turn up in that area.? Years ago the state hired me (subcontract) to look for aboriginal sites in that area and the bottom line was there's so many the whole area could be classed as a site.? The only tunnel I ever heard refered to was actually a hidden canal from the sugar mill site (you'll see it) behind the mill.? It's the chase that's always the fun part -- I'll get up there if I can.

Good luck with it!
