I'm getting an Excalibur next year lol

I think the xcal is a great machine but there are several other factors that play a role. Knowing my machine, knowing the beach's and where to put the most effort in once I see the right signs. And time out. Yesterdays hunt..#60...............5 rings, one gold,... four the other metal..brass,.... the Stainless Steel of today

Amazing finds OBN. Today as I got out for the first time in the water for the season and found my first JUNK ring of the year, and 10th straight JUNK ring, it got me wondering what your ratio is good rings (gold, silver, plat.) to junk rings? My estimate would put you at 200-250 junk rings a year.

Thank You.....
I hunt maybe 15 to 20 hours a week, but most of my hunts are for 3 to 4 hours a day. If I do a 6 or 7 hour hunt I'm no good for a few days, so best I keep them short but sweet!

To put this more into perspective for those already salivating over this..

You found a ring every 32 hours and 11 minutes for the past 6 months. You found a GOLD ring every 3 days.

Now, based on a hunting time of 4 hours every day for the past 181 days (assuming you even hunted EVERY day) you found a ring every 5.36 hours of hunting, or a GOLD ring every 12.48 hours of hunting.. or once every three hunts.

Math can be fun.

PS I envy you, sir.

PPS Great finds.

PPPS Please share.

Joe,

I'm a bit late to the party but you've had one heck of a first half of the season.

Happy July 4th from north of the border and continued success for the rest of the year.

Regards + HH

Bill

I may average 20 to 25 junk rings a year, and about the same on the silver rings. And maybe one Platinum a year. Really has a lot to do with where I hunt which can affect the types of rings I find. But here is one for you, how many pulltabs do I dig a year? Maybe 40 if that...the beach's I hunt pulltabs were never around. And the one's I do find are drifters from boaters I would guess.

Average I hunt 4 days a week, but when the weather turns cold Jan n Feb I hunt very little, then once or twice a week if that. I'm not much for keeping track of how much time I spend out and the ratio.
