Sandman gave me very helpful tips and advice when I bought a CZ20 and got into water hunting. I am sorry to hear that he has left us.

The best of the best: Especially helpful, very skilled, tactful to all. I owe much to Dennis Rahn, even though we never met, or even knew who he was, I will really miss him.
A sincere and special thank you to Dennis and his family for all of his posts and replies to my numerous private messages, I considered him as a true and trusted friend.

As long as his posts are on the forum, and there are treasure hunters and detectorists the Sand Man will live.
Long Live the Sand Man!

Sandman's Passing -

I was trying to contact Dennis since I did not know he had died and felt bad when I read the news.

I meet Dennis at Earl Taylor's metal detecting shop which was on 11 Mile road in Royal Oak, Michigan back in the early 80's. I would visit 2 or 3 times a month on Saturdays and talk treaure hunting stories.

Dennis didn't come in often but one day he did got a brain storm: Add a foot pad to my scoop! Why didn't I think of it ... ???

He was "Hooked" on the hobby like most of us and was a solid supporter of the community.

Earl passed a couple years ago so now I am the only one left from those good old days who hung around his shop.

The positive thing to remember is that Dennis did his thing, enjoyed the hobby and life to the fullest while he could.

Chuck

Dennis was a very smart guy and could guide someone who needed help detecting. He didn't want to see people get discourage
