do you do raffles or prize tokens - anything like that
I sometimes will donate a "prize" to organized hunts

Yes they do raffles, it helps cover part of the cost, putting on the picnic for that many people is not cheap, well over a hundred people attend each year, lots of food and fun.

There are really no planned hunts at the picnic, just raffles, lots of food, live music, vendors and a good time.

I got started in kids hunts with a borrowed machine - think my first was 1974
funny thing about a few of my kids hunts - we had some of the largest organized hunts in the US back
then in Ma. We had guys from down south hitting around battlesites before they were made off limits
they would bring a few of those large white plastic buckets full of minie balls (they were finding them by the tons)
for the kids to find - along with a few prize tokens and new coins - I remember finding a bunch of them and thinking they were cool
now a days - those same bullets can go for like $3 a piece or more if you get a rare one especially if attributed to a fort or battle site
these guys donated like 100s if not a thousand - they said they had mounds of them and did not want to melt cause they were
relic and would give them out to historical societies and schools - guys would kill for those now
have to thank them - gave me another reason to help me stay in the hobby

Dang it. I have been wanting to attend for years. I already have plans to be there the weekend before and no way I can turn around and fly back out again that soon.
