Whats missing from this picture?

Excal. Aug. 25, 2007 (Medium).jpg

Bobby Pins!!
I've been using a Whites Surf Pro PI and found 3 rings last week. Also came home with 30 bobby pins in one day. Sure is nice not wasting so much time digging bobby pins.

Nice hunt Birdman, those water hunts are tough! That excal is a nice machine, I bought a Fisher 1280 since it will not be used so much, still a nice machine. HH, Mike

Nice finds Birdman. PI's would be nice if only they didn't love tiny pieces of iron. The chances of you finding more rings and coins will improve because you won't be wasting time digging bobby pins and hair pins. There is a difference between them in shape only.

good luck.

Joe that is exactly how I took it, as humor, in fact, I was laughing so hard, I almost spewed my coffee all over my keyboard when I read it this morning. Heading back out in the morning to put some more time in on the Excal.

I was not sure how good the Excal. was on gold rings. I tried it on a bunch of rings I found in the past. It picked them all up. Then in the last 3 days,I found 3 gold rings and 2 silver rings. A pile of junk rings. Last season I found 0 gold with my 1280. The 1280 is not a bad detector but you do spend a lot of time digging up trash. Good hunting Mike.
