I'd need better close-ups of the basket to give an engineering opinion. I find a loop assist handle on the back side of the main handle works better for me. Easier for these old hands to drag the scoop and to lift it when it's full of wet sand. What are the dimensions of the basket? Looks kind of narrow in the photo. I find the wider the basket, the less chance of damaging the target.....especially large targets like phones, cameras, sunglasses, etc.

Should be fine in fluffy dry sand. I doubt it will hold up very long in wet/water/cobble/rocks.etc. It would need a lot more gusseting, corner reinforcement, basket bracing, and less perforation in the center of the floor or else it will kink or collapse during a decent pry. How is the wooden handle attached to the tube?

I used it today and it worked great. I know it’s not the best but should get me thru this years beach hunting.

If you don’t over push it, it could hold up just fine. Im sure you had fun putting your scoop together like I did. Good luck!
