Hello all.

I've been out of the hobby for quite awhile, but have been lurking regularly.
I had been having the urge to get a new detector and after seeing the EQ600 I decided to go for it. I like hunting the beach mainly and the occasional park or school.
I hope I made the right decision going with the 600 vs the 800. Thoughts ???

Thanks

You shouldn't be disappointed with your decision as the EQ600 is a great detector

I have the 600, enjoy it a lot. I haven't had a reason to want the 800 as yet, except for the blinding light on the controller, where the 800 can lower the brightness. The 800 has great features, but not everyone wants/needs them,. You are good to go!

You should do very well. Enjoy! If your parks are trashy you'll probably have to spend more $$$ on the 6" coil which is not available yet.

I have the 600 and think it is a winner thus far.

I have the 600 and it’s great if you like digging deep holes. It goes deep.

I have an 800 and the more I use it, the less I use the additional features. I started out with 3 tones, with custom tone breaks and tones ... now I find myself hunting exclusively in the original 50 tone mode. I'm primarily a beach hunter.

My only recommendation at first is to use the factory settings, then move to whatever you want later.

Thanks for the latest responses.
I've been able to take it out a couple of times and it does go deep for sure.
I have only used both beach modes so far only tweaking the sensitivity a little. I'm very happy with the EQ600.

Nice. I've got the 600 and about the only thing I have changed is the sensitivity and volume. Otherwise its mode 1 or 2. No reason to get the 800 for beach detecting.

I would suggest turning up the volume on iron though... it's pretty faint in factory settings.
