Found 8" down, 1/4 mile out on the tidal flats. Unusual for it to survive and still be identifiable. 1950s date if you look close. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1524692385.306415.jpg

I've come across about 100 or so in the same condition. Bet we won't find any new pennies 60 plus years old in the future.

What surprised me was that it was in the salt for probably more than 50 years and still identifiable. I would guess that a new penny wouldn't last more than a year or two in the salt before totally disintegrating.
