My scoop handle comes up to my chin. I would say to your shoulder length for sure if you are water hunting. Once you’ve dug a few times for a target in the water the scoop handle goes down more and more. You want it long enough so when you’re digging in the water your upper body isn’t bending over so much that your almost getting your face wet.

Thanks for the advice guys. I went out to Lowe's, bought a garden rake with composite handle ($15), cut off the rake head, and installed it. Comes up a little higher than my shoulder. Can't wait to get it on the beach in November!
