Woo hooo !! I got one !! Long summer of seaweed covered beaches, but I finally saw some sand and was able to get a small Cobb on thursday. 20181018_113835.jpg

Aaaaahhhhhhhhh !!!! A treasure cobb is in my hand. 20181018_113900.jpg
20181018_113950.jpg
Pretty much just a cookie, heavily encased in sulfide. Couldn't see much detail at all !! 20181018_164808.jpg

After some cleaning more detail emerged, and although this little 2 reale (I think) is pretty tore up from corrosion it's still a beautiful little piece of king phillip the fifths treasure. 20181020_215108.jpg this 4.6 gram beauty came from a beach where the survivors from the 1733 Spanish fleet disaster came ashore and formed a survivor/salvage camp. 20181020_220259.jpg
Turned out that there was a bold little roaring lion, Jerusalem cross, and some of the florenzada and castles on one side, and some of the shield is visible on the other side. Still got some cleaning to go but almost there. Stubborn sulfide are hiding a bit of detail still. Here's a shot of the Cobb with some other finds from the summer 20181021_094030.jpg
The small decorative cross came from the 1733 site along with the musket balls, bottom of the bottle, coral encrusted Spanish olive jar shard, and the iron spike. Got those earlier this summer. The smooth beach worn olive jar shards, the small ballast stones, the small blue kngxi pottery shard, and the piece of conglomerate all came from the 1715 fleet on the treasure coast. I got that stuff last weekend hunting up there. I got a bunch of sea glass and shells up there too, and probably only just missed the coins as conditions went from good to bad right in front of me as I hunted. 20181021_093933.jpg
20181015_094627.jpg
Even found sharks teeth and an awesome large murex shell !! 20181015_094809.jpg woohoo hoooo!! The seasons are changing and there's treasure on those beaches !!!
Thanks for looking and happy hunting !!

20181026_183456.jpg ring number 5 in the same style from this spot. All have been slightly different in shape, all have the rope feature on the border, all are made from pewter and brass. This is the first one I've seen with the stone in it. It looks like abalone shell.

20181026_194539.jpg hers a pair of tiny cuff link type buttons. I thought they were silver but they turned out to be copper, and they cleaned up great and are still in one piece. 20181026_223523.jpg

I believe they are pewter and brass. They are not precious masterpieces as I expected to find at a galleon site. But for whatever the reason quite a few rings of this type are found here. The only thing I can think of is that they were used to trade with the indians by the salvagers. Still a mystery but they are found mixed in with the cobbs and other artifacts.

Guess I'd be a fool not to go back and give her a go today. Three cobbs in a week, you just gotta go back until conditions change.

How about sand sifting that area ? Or if possible hunting a little inland from that area ?

God bless that hard packed shell layer, and blue clay. Everything in the clay and shell layer is galleon stuff. So nice to see that layer just under the sugar sand.

20181028_180704.jpg so only got a pipe frag, and an olive jar shard yesterday. Still working on the little cobb on the right and the one on the left is just a piece of a piece of eight. I'm happy !!! 20181028_173322.jpg as for the ring it's still up in the air some say yes wreck related, and others say no. After finding 3 I'm leaning yes. Here's another one for comparison 20181028_173600.jpg 20181028_173347.jpg
Then there was a nice little pipe frag, it has writing I can't make out. 20181028_180715.jpg
3 hunts in a week and a half and 3 cobbs, a ring, cufflinks, and the other stuff......I'm happy and excited to go again.
