I couldn't help it, I had to get out there to see if the beach was getting cut. So I threw on the wetsuit and headed to the beach. Got pounded up against the bank a few times, but never went down. I was having a good time and I had planned on staying longer, but, a giant black cloud came over head and started dumping dime sized wind-driven rain drops that felt just slightly warmer than liquid nitrogen. I couldn't take it, even in a wetsuit it was just too cold. I ended up with $3.40, some I Ching medallion off a necklace that I thought was silver but it's only plated and a big heavy tungsten carbide wedding band.

No personal flotation device. It wasn't too worried about getting dragged out to sea as the water was shallow with lots of waves. I would have probably had to go out another 20 to 30 feet to be in any kind of danger. It was just that occasional breaker that rolled in a little extra far that would lay a whooping on me. even at that they were only thigh-high, and while I know a thigh-high wave can take your feet out from under you I had my head on a swivel. Even with the headphones on I received audible warning as you could hear the crash of the wave a good three or four seconds before actually came in to hit you giving me plenty of time to brace myself.
