The sand from this site has been swept away by hurricane Irma. 20190704_161529.jpg the moon rock like shoreline acts like a riffle board trapping all the heavies. When you bend down to see what's making the machine go crazy this is what you see. 20190704_161237.jpg this spot dates back to the 1820s and has never been hit obviously 20190710_172458.jpg this place has had a lot of traffic over the years, and then dropped off the map in the 80s. I'm working an old cistern that although dosent look to old at first glance, but when you look close you can tell it's much older tabby construction with a fresher newer coat of plaster. 20190702_174500.jpg 20190702_174420.jpg 20190702_174406.jpg 20190702_174354.jpg this cistern sits about 15 yards back from the shoreline and cannot be seen until your about 6-8 feet from it....very few know its here.one of the first finds was an old flat button 20190702_194418.jpg it says standard treble gilt and has a decorative floral band around the rim back mark ?? I cant find a match ?? 20190629_222150.jpg I spent 3 hunts here for 2 hours each with my brand new out of the box 600 nox. This was the first haul. Check out this buckle...latch..badge or whatever.....its copper and engraved bety....I have know idea what it was to or how old.... 20190629_222521.jpg got an 05 V nick as my oldest coin so far 20190629_222608.jpg and that's a 42 merc...my only silver so far. To bad the v nick is torched ! There was a half dozen or so wheats too 20190706_063002.jpg heres a nickel plated buckle of some sort.....dont know how old.....everything is mixed here.....yesterday's change mixed with 100 +year old relics. 20190710_170500.jpg check out the old bent coat hook it's two piece and looks really old 20190710_170527.jpg this piece looks like the spigot on an igloo water cooler but it's made of lead 20190629_222357.jpg 20190629_222339.jpg thought it was a pressure relief valve ...but pretty sure it a thumb depress spigot to dispense something. Got a cheap plated 70s watch also 20190629_222234.jpg 20190629_224943.jpg she's seen better days !! Here's a chris craft boat ID plate in copper, 20190710_170428.jpg and another heavy brass or copper latch 20190710_170550.jpg .....maybe bronze. Could be some harmonica reeds or music box parts with all sorts of fasteners and other little doodads....I already put a lot of lead in the stash pile and put away double the clad shown. I'm just cherry picking high tones right now this place has many more days ahead of it and I'm hoping that some older coins are here !! I have only been about knee deep so far and it's real tough to retrieve targets here in the rocks.
Thanks for looking peeps and happy hunting !!
