My First gold coin

So I went out tonight for about two hours to my favorite spot on the beach were it has produced a lot of silver coins and I found this unidentified gold coin you can see part of the date on it thanks for looking

No I just think it was tossed around in the sand for many years

Its not a coin, I think.... Looks like gold inlay or decoration for a sword. Hilt - The handle of the sword, a hilt is usually made from leather, wire or wood. It is fastened to the tang of the blade to provide a comfortable way to hold the sword. Pommel - The end of the sword that the hilt is on. Many sword knots were also made of silk with a fine, ornamental alloy gold or silver metal wire woven into it in a specified pattern.

Inner workings of older watches were often Gold or heavily gilded.

You might be right here’s a picture going to test the gold purity when I get home but I’ve never seen a solid pocket watch face/dial

Interesting item, but no way its any part of a coin. It does appear to have a "1" but the other is not a "2", looks more like a decorative swirl. Second, gold coin are 90% gold and seawater doesnt affect them. I have a 9K ring from the ocean with far less corrosion than this. I think this is a brass item, with the "gold" areas just scoured sections.

Good call tested it with acid failed all test well better luck next time[emoji3525]
