one thing that I would say 9 out of 10 Fla. locals have probably never done -
walked into a tourist gift shop - why would they?
I wonder how many know what they get for a lot of the common shells down there
If I ever retire down there I will probably do a side job selling shells on line
when I was younger - my first few trips down there - I bought shells to bring home
for myself or for gifts - When I got serious into water hunting and started wearing a mask
I started finding for free the same shells I paid good money for - like everything else
condition means a lot - I have found some rare shells and some quality common ones
that places sell for $1 and up
lot of places will sell the "baby conchs" 2 largest in pic - from $1 and up
one year I was at South Beach after a storm and bottom was littered with them
I could only fit so many in my pouch - I could have filled buckets full
I was giving them away (there is a story behind that too - I will tell after this first post)
I was not actually shelling on this trip but picked them up as I went along or I saw in my scoop
Good reason to wear a mask if you don't - these will not go in my collection - a couple of women at
work asked if i could bring them a few - I told them if conditions are right - there were spots with none
at all - others were loaded - I think they will both be happy - specially on the variety

I have acquired tons of cool looking shells over the years when taking the kids on vacations around the stat e beaches. Still many today are Décor around my house.
