A couple of questions about the Equinox 800

I broke down and bought the Equinox 800 (I will never refer to it as "The Nox"), which came today. I will mostly use it on Terra Firma and dry sand where a VDI is optimal. However, I'd rather have the waterproof headphones. Which waterproof headphones do you recommend? I see there is one available from Minelab and at least one aftermarket
one selling on-line. Are either one blue-tooth compatible? Thanks for your assistance.

Since wireless (bluetooth) headphones don't work underwater, I can't imagine anyone making them waterproof. What don't you like about the factory wireless headphones? For waterproof headphones (wired type) I use the Tony Eisenhower "storm trooper" ones.

I recommend the Isenhowers, and no, none of them are BT.

I realize none of the BT work underwater, but getting in the wash as much as I do, both Ocean and Bay, I don't want to ruin the factory headphones. So Eisenhower's are a good option, I see.

You can also take a look at patriot phones. They’re loud and have a nice long cord that takes the strain off back of the control box.

Tony's are nice on my Eq 800, however i have not been going in the water past knee deep this year and have just mostly run stock, well worth the money , Earl

Just use em, and if they get too wet to work, then use another pair.

But that won’t happen unless they get used in a monsoon, or drop into saltwater and then never taken out.

I only water hunt so i highly recommend Tony Eisenhowers. Everytime i upgrade a machine he does a pair for me now. Yes you could just change out the blue tooth ones every now and then since you can find them at a fair price. BUT.... id hate to drive very far just to find out my headphones decided to NOT work from the salt over spray. My box goes under water way to often to make them practical for me.

I hear ya, brother! Congrats on the three rings. That cigar band is awesome! I made the decision last year that I wasn’t getting in the cold water anymore. Just can’t enjoy myself and it is just too much work! Keep them coming!

I have the Koss headphones for my 800, that work well and are loud. But you should consider water resistant wireless Bluetooth ear buds - they're a lot cheaper, like $30 - $50, and work well as long as the control unit is above water. Pairing isn't a problem and ear buds work great as long as the ear buds are low latency (LL). And, it is so much cooler on the beach to wear wireless ear buds vs those "Old Man" headphones.

The problem with earbuds on the beach is that they let in a huge amount of outside noise and make it harder to hear the tones. I wear "old man" phones because I want to hear the signals instead of the wind/surf/gulls/people/etc. I also dont care what anybody thinks about me wearing "old man phones".
