Oh there you go, finding a really cool piece of history and getting all these peeps researching for you. Hey, some of us have to work! LOL! Very neat, Bart, and very cool that all of you are helping him. I'm looking too, even though I know nothing! Someone is bound to get lucky. Oh, and don't tell MR WD I am researching instead of working!

Keep the finds and the fish coming, Bart!

Edit: Whatever it is, I think this is a Banner Find! Can I vote for that here, or does it need to be in "Todays Finds?"

Thanks, EQ8. I just followed your lead. That is one fancy schmancy book mark. I think Bart guessed bookmark, also, in one of his posts, somewhere.

The cut in the piece looked more like it was deliberate rather than "torn by the elements".
Always fun and interesting to unravel history.

Theres a bust or something on the handle and I'm pretty sure this is sterling too. Got a little melted bowl of some sort....its brass and might have been plated. Click image for larger version.

That little bowl does look fancy. Just an incredible time you are having.
