Here is a pix of a 2" Submarine pin that came from the salt water. It has taken several days to clean and has a ways to go. I love finding these odd pieces of jewelery. Pin is gold plated with a crown on the top. There is a place in the center for some kind of stone but was missing.
Hey digger, WTG. I like finding things like that as much or more than finding silver. "Good For" tokens is one of my favorites also. Nice find. Would look good in a display case. Highwater
In every lifetime, there must be an adventure. A quest to far off lands, an encounter with danger, the chance to explore the unknown. The search for treasure is one such adventure.
What a unique find, nice job. How are you cleaning it?
I have been soaking it in olive oil and then bakeing at 250 degrees for 10 minutes. then I drop in olive oil again. Most of the time the crud will pop right off. When it came out of the water the whole top portion was coated with sand and calcium deposits.(Alot of seashells in area). It looks fantastic compared to when I started.
Real nice find and great care in cleaning it up. I wonder if the crown on the conning tower is representative for a sub known as the Kingfisher. I can't think of any other reason for a crown over the boat.
