Ok, let's try this again. Detectors to take on a sailboat.

So I was apparently asking the wrong questions. I'll try this again. :)

This is the situation:

I have a $2000 budget.
2 detectors maximum. (I'm not going to carry more than that on a small sailboat)
I want to do the following kinds of detecting:

  • Diving in saltwater up to 100'
  • Wet saltwater beach
  • Dry saltwater beach.
  • Inland "dirt"
Note: I have an existing XLT, take it as one of the two or chuck it?

Suggestions? Thanks

Don’t know much about the xlt, but if you like it keep it as an inland detector and get an xcal for diving, it will irk shallow and wet sand also, it’s just a lot heavier than a nox, has no screen, but it would satisfy your budget.

I agree with cladpirate, add and Excalibur to your XLT, or, if you're just itching to get two new detectors, get and Equinox to go with it. It'll add a bit of depth over the XLT and will find tiny gold better..... a LOT lighter too.....oh, and waterproof to 10ft.

Hi again Lasivian,
I hope I didn't come across as rude back on your previous post. So wow sounds like your going to have a fun adventure on the sailboat. I have to throw my agreement with cladpirate, RustyGold and cudamark about the Ecal II for your diving. It will go deeper than the 100' that you'll be doing and it's easier to swing underwater than the Fishers CZ21 unless the CZ21 is chest or belt mounted which isn't a good idea when scuba diving. If Casper chimes in I think he would agree. Anyway I'm jealous about your trip. My scuba diving will be limited to area lakes this summer.
