What MOD coil do you have installed on your Excalibur 2

Looking to mod my coil. What’s your recommendation?

Has a lot to do with where you hunt and how. In the water, out of the water..both...fresh drop beach, old beach...calm water..rough water...saltwater...lakes..fresh..rivers?

I hunt in the water.....brackish ....calm to rough...use the stock 800 / 1000 coils and do well.

Years ago I hunted the ocean, saltwater...wetsand/dry.. the ULT 13 was the best for me..in the water stock only.....BBS coils only.

I'm still running the stock coil, but did convert to a straight shaft.

It was some years ago - 2, 3, 4 ? where there was a lengthy discussion of coil changes, mods, couplings for quick coil swaps, that kinda thing. At the time I chose to stay stock, don't know how the thread ended up. Still here in the archives somewhere....

In covering huge expanses of wet sand and shallow water, I like big coils, the bigger the better as long as I don't lose sensitivity on the small targets. I use the 15" coils from Coiltek and NEL for that type of search. For surf and deeper water, the stock 10" and 8" are easier to swing.

For wetsand and light surf I will use the Nox 800 and the 15” coil. Two different tools for similar but different applications. I guess one of the things I was wanting to hear from the veterans was that a smaller coil does better in deeper water and surf since it’s less resistance to the after friction during the swing. I think I got that message.
