I've seen some dry spells in my time but a combination of COVID fears, extensive renourishment and recent temperatures in the 40' - 60's have resulted in 2020 being one of the worst dry spells in memory. The depositors just aren't flocking to our beaches in normal numbers.

I haven't been down south or on the west coast of FL recently, but if your interested in detecting from Jacksonville to the Treasure Coast, I can tell you my experience has been one of a lot more exercise than any significant detecting success.

Praying for an improvement in 2021.

Sounds good to me, should be less crowded & lower oceanfront rental prices.Maybe I can talk the "Boss" into it :)

Have you tried turning it off and then turning it back on again?

This usually helps :tongue3:

If my wife is a predictor we're in a heap of trouble this year as well as next - Because of COVID and the need to wear masks and sanitize your hands numerous times per day, the wife has stopped wearing jewelry! Its difficult to wear rings and to keep taking them off and on when you use hand sanitizer. She also doesn't wear larger ear rings because they interfere w masks. Bottom line - if you don't wear jewelry ya can't loose it!
Combine the lack of jewelry wearing and lack of tourists and you have few drops being chased by more and more detectorists.

Right now I'm trying to convince the wife to head down to Florida for the winter ( :argue: ); but like many others, we're now waiting and hoping that we can get vaccinated before heading south ( :walk:)...it may be a long and cold winter here in Ohio w/o MDing! :icon_pale:Aaaaauuuuu.

south florida slim pickings

As a long time resident of south east Florida, I can tell you this is the worst
year I have experienced yet. I have detected up and down the east coast
and found the pickings to be horrible.

Not much better for the Sam reasons. Takes forever it seems for a re-nourished beach to produce anything but recent drops.... there were just a LOT of hunters this year too with gold being up. So here it’s dry sanding or waiting on good conditions..... don’t care what detector you have 3’ of sand over stuff and you’re going to had a floater kind of day.

Wonder if hitting where the dredge throws the sand on the beach would be productive ?
