i wanted to get in the water but the weather had other plans...so instead it was into the mangrove bush. 20210104_203633.jpg got some silver dimes and a handful of wheats.
20210104_204518.jpg
Also got some great maritime relics. 20210104_204617.jpg 20210104_204548.jpg 20210104_204531.jpg I was super happy with the mini bronze double block pulley!! 20210104_204339.jpg 20210104_204319.jpg 20210104_204259.jpg got a wheat penny that had been shot by a 22. Also had a shotgun headstamp that had also been shot by a 22 round....BOOM !! 20210104_204828.jpg
20210104_205201.jpg
Ended up with a half dozen plated pieces of silverware...5 forks a spoon and a knife handle. 20210104_204149.jpg 20210104_204245.jpg plenty of bullets and shells also. 20210104_205132.jpg plenty of other miscellaneous finds also. Nothing mind blowing but a nice steady day of digging !! Wooo hooo !! Got to admit that seeing those ships dividers on the banner board really got me motivated...thanks FloridaSon....and happy hunting everyone !!

Got to take a picture of some funky looking plate thingy...might be some kind of art deco ashtray or something its soaking !!

Here is an area east of the wallmart/bulldozer find that is probably privately owned. What do you think? Hard to see from the pic but US 1 was built on the side of a sand ridge, slightly higher to the west and sloping lower to the river on the east. Not sure how up to date this photo is, lots of construction around. Some of you locals might have to correct this old cracker. :)

I have herd through the coconut telegraph that the hoard was actually found closer to the river, and that the bulldozer story was made up. Don't know the truth of the matter except that the area you have marked would be a great starting point for a good search !!

That is a good description of the topography of the area across from Walmart and I've eyed that property before while driving US1.
I just noticed that your map doesn't appear to be the area across from Walmart. Maybe it is north of Roseland road?

Looks like an old trailer park next door also....lot of vacant trailer lots too.

The abandoned trailer park is up next to Depot. A church and medical offices between Wally and the trailer park.

Yup....but wow there's alot of looking around that wallmart....thats not the river. A good permission from any surrounding businesses might be interesting.....I think the bulldozer hoard as its called was 200+cobbs !!

Hmmm ..... :icon_thumleft:
I walked the west side of the tracks along the preserve fence a few weekends back. It was nice of FEC RR to be laying cables and run a trench for me using a bulldozer with a single trenching/rooting tooth to cut roots. Unfortunately the only thing I turned up was large iron rr track "keepers", bolts and a more modern large timber (12x12) with lots of holes and some bolts still in it. I'm guessing it was from some type of bridge. Not rotted or ship related from what I could tell. Oh and and I dug a
modern combination wrench with adjustable at one end and a 1/2" drive ratchet at the other.
Oh and did I mention I did get a permission for a surrounding property? Not the preserve though, in case you were wondering.

I understand the RR is clearing brush from the sides of the track in preparation of starting the Brightline service from W. Palm to Orlando. That would explain all the mulch piles next to the tracks. They are currently expanding or strengthening the bridge over the Sebastian river and widening bridges over other streams and relief canals in our area from what I've heard.

I was to lazy to make another post....here's the take from a second hunt at the same spot.....another half dozen pieces of plated silverware I believe one fork is solid sterling. Also got another silver dime and some wheats. Found a small matching bronze pulley also. Its a single line block. Also a strange fastener with a hooked washer. And of course the baby killer syrup bottle.

The biggest chunk in your pic is owned by PNC Bank, the smaller part jutting east towards the river are 3 lots owned by individuals
