I'm in Florida and hadn't heard of a Metal Detecting Permit. Is this something for a specific area or is it statewide? When is it required?

Looks like Orange county Florida does require permits:

No where does it mention $5 THOUGH

Suggest you contact the Central Florida Metal Detecting club for an answer.

Some counties do require a permit, Orange county now does, permit is free, I do not know of any beach that have permit requirements.
