Scalding - Something To Look For On Your Area Beaches

Strong sustained winds and wave action will often push the loose bottom sands toward the shoreline, this creating berms much like sandbars. Just out from these berms you can often find 15-20ft wide strips of bottom where the clay and gravel has become exposed because of all of the loss of sand. Add to this that those generally lighter targets like pull tabs, bottle caps, etc., will likewise get washed toward the shore with all of that loose sand that created those berms (those berms will usually be loaded with these items). This usually leaves just the heavier items in these scalded target lines just a short distance from the berms. I’ve found a lot of gold and silver over the years hunting these scalded target lines. Just passing it along.

One of the major things im looking for....mother nature does the heavy lifting. Often times when wearing a mask you can eyeball valuables in these scalded areas !! After hurricanes major areas can be stripped clean like this !!
