Welcome to the forum and also to Florida. I also live on the Gulf Coast down here in Cape Coral and I own an Ace 250. Like you, I didn't want to go broke buying my first detector. I use the Ace 250 at parks and beaches and it's been great so far. It performs really well on the dry sand at a beach but once you start scanning the wet sand, you get lots and lots of false signals. You have to turn the sensitivity way down but by doing that you lose depth. And from what I understand(I'm new so could be wrong) the stuff in wet sand is usually deeper. I'll just continue picking all the clad up in the dry sand the rest of this year and buy a detector better suited for the surf next year with all my change :)
