For a commercial grade detector,

the JW Fishers are a good choice (especially in salt water areas).

Most people don't want to afford the cost of one,

that's why there's not a lot of post/discussion about them here on this forum.

Thanks guys for the replies, also got some advice on another forum and did an archive search on the site http://www.findmall.com/. From reading it seems the Pulse 8x is designed for underwater and would not be the best choice for beach and shallow water when compared to other detectors.

Get a CZ20 or an ex-cal 1000

You'll be happy with either one!

Re: JW Fisher's Pulse 8X opinions?

I had both of their machines and sold them 2 years ago the depth is 8" max large target and terrable pinpoint I used them mainly underwater. I not impressed with JWF products at all I have a CZ 20 and an Excalibur. The CZ outperforms the Excal hands down. I have tried the Detectorpro pulse and it did twice the depth than the JWF CZ and Excal. Its not my opinion but trial and error has cost me several thousands in detectors I am buying a Detectorpro and selling my Excal.
