First things first..........Never lift the coil higher than the controls as water in the shaft will fry the guts.

You can use the coin setting or just coin & jewelry setting. For max depth use all metal-No disc. or Relic mode. In the water near the shore the detector might become unstable by beeping when there is nothing there. It is the combination of saltwater and black sand. Turn down the Sens. till it clears up. You can hunt the dry sand but moving into the wet you will have to ground balance again. Try not to move from wet to dry, stay in one or the other for awhile.
