Lt. Robert S. Jones suffered sever wounds at the Battle of Salyers Creek on April 6, 1865. On his headstone he died on April 9, 1865 and was buried.
You are aware there are several versions concerning Jones death-KIA April 6,1865,severly wounded and died 3 days later, etc.
The Battle of Saylers Creek was the end for the Army of Northern Virginia and DIXIE.Many extra units were called in by Lee for this, what became, the final fight for the CSA.It was a confusing time in Virginia, especially in Dannville,April 3-10,1865.

Where is the source of the several versions of Jones Death you mention? I only know what the official records say about Robert S. Jones. You do know there were two Robert S. Jones' at the Battle of Sayler's Creek?

Was the LAST battle...? BEFORE the surrender at Appomattox...? The SURRENDER GROUNDS...? Wife & I were there, this past Monday. Look at "time line"; "Money Train" pulled out of Richmond, Va, WHEN...? FINAL battle, WHEN...? Hutter (grandson of JB RISQUE; cousin of JB WARD) saved Vattel's book, WHEN...? CONFEDERATE WAR ended in 1865; TWENTY years later... in 1885, Hutter (brother, author of "BP") is dead... info as COVER-STORY is released as BEALE PAPERS.

Many CSA were captured at Sayler's Creek, including CSA Brig Gen Theodore W Brevard of the 11th Florida and the remaining men of his command.CSA Brig Gen Robert Bullock(Ocala,Florida),CSA 7th Florida, was severly wounded at the battle of Franklin-Nashville,Nov 1864,but fought with CSA Gen Joe E Johnston against Union Gen W T Sherman in Bentonville,NC,Mar 19-21,1865.Bullock with his remaining 36 men, along with Johnston surrendered to Sherman,April 26,1865,at Bennet Place, near Durham,in what was considered the largest surrender of forces during the War of Northern Aggression.
Afterward,Bullock traveled to Marshall's Plantation in Abbeville,SC(Marshall also had a plantation in Marion County,Florida),and by May 1865,was back home in Ocala,Florida. Also in May 1865,Judah P Benjamin,John C Breckinridge, and John Taylor Wood stayed at Bullock's home, during their flight from Union capture.
Perhaps another coincidence?

Yes,planned that way,but not to escape to Brazil.
Breckinridge and Wood sailed to Cuba and stayed with the relatives of CSA spy Lola Sanchez(Palatka,Fl),Benjamin, with the aid of CSA Cow Calvary and one of his blockade runners, sailed to the Bahamas, and Bullock remained in Ocala, going into the orange business.

Cuba was just ONE of the numerous "safe places"; Mexico City had a REB "conclave"; places in Brazil (two of which I am aware of). "Clues": SPANISH-speaking, KGC GOLDEN CIRCLE ("EMPIRE", similar to OLD "EMPIRE" of Aaron Burr, VP under US PREZ Thomas Jefferson, from THAT "cloudy mist of time).

What also needs to be noted is E S HUTTERS command in DANVILLE,Va on April 3,1865 and how he aided the flight of Jefferson Davis and the CSA Cabinet and the remaining assets of the Confedrate Treasury. There exists many connections not mentioned here.
For a quick overview:
LIVELY ROOTS Edward Sixtus Hutter [10022]

"Remaining assets of the Confederate Treasury...? PART of it was the BEALE/BEALL Treasure...
"google" CONFEDERATE TREASURE COVERUP: Duty, Honor, & Deceit by Peter Viemeister (RIP);

FREEMASON BROTHERHOOD TRANSCENDS FORMER FOES OF WAR

During the 1880's,Union Gen Johua Chamberlain, and Freemason and CSA Brig Gen Robert Bullock, another Freemason became investors in the narrow gauge Silver Springs,Ocala,& Gulf Railroad Company.Other investors included Simon & Solomon Benjamin, the cousins of David Yulee and CSA Sec of State Judah P Benjamin, other Ocala residents where Chamberlain now lived with his son at this time. With two other investors,Chamberlain formed the HOMOSASSA COMPANY,and bought Yulee's plantation in Homosassa.
The SS,O,& G RR ran from the steamboat docks at Silver Spring to Ocala to Dunnellon, then to Homosassa.
The Benjamin brothers also formed the EAST FLORIDA ICE Co,the first in Marion county, next to the Union Station in Ocala.
Interning Learning: A very unique item...

CSA Sec of State Judah P Benjamin had his hand in several of the Confederate governments covert affairs, blockade running, signal corp, and the CSA spy network. With all his contacts, why did he give a Lynchburg resident,CSA Major E S Hutter his personal(and noted CSA) copy of Vattel's LAW OF NATIONS at Dannville?
Also at Dannville(according to Davis's CSA courier,John S Wise),were CSA President Davis,and his cabinet,Breckinridge,Harrison,Mallory,and Reagan,and CSA Gen Bragg.
Wise delievered CSA Gen Lee's message to Davis-"You may say to Mr Davis that,as he knows,my original purpose was to adhere to the line of the Dannville Road.I have been unable to do so,and am now endeavoring to hold the Southside Rail Road as I retire in the direction of Lynchburg...A few more Saylors' Creeks and it all will be over-ended-just as I have expected it would end from the first".
After Davis recieved this message, they knew the end was just a matter of time.
It was at this time that Benjamin gave Hutter his Vattel's copy. Why was this copy important?

Well, it was a SECRET CSA book (1 of 3)... who KNOWS. BTW, did you know that Lynchburg, VIRGINIA was STATE capital for about 4 days, after Richmond, VA "fell"...? YEP! PLENTY of time to bury "Richmond Stores" in abandoned James River Canal vaults, caves, tunnels... (abandoned in 1856).

BEALE PAPERS was written, then released in LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA in 1885; TWENTY years after the CONFEDERATE WAR (1865). I think that there is a Brig. General Albert Pike (CSA) "connection", in that Pike went back to "lawyering" after the CONFEDERATE WAR and COULD HAVE read/understood VLON, saved by ES Hutter (1 of 3 SECRET CSA books in Danville, Va. in 1865). MAYBE, between 1865 & 1885 Pike ALSO helped with CODES & CIPHERS... dunno.

AND! Before the Inner Circle/Secret Committee wrote the BEALE PAPERS, they met "in secret" at the Arlington Hotel, in 1882... decided to do a "cut & paste" job (my words).

It is no coincidence Pike's friend and KGC associate,Judah P Benjamin, gave E S Hutter Vattel's LON.As previous noted,Pike and Benjamin were well versed in codes and ciphers, and that copy of Vattel's may well hold the "key" to the remaining unsolved cipher in the Beale pamphlet.

Rebel, Name someone from Missouri that was in on that Inner Circle/Secret Committee Meeting in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1882? Then you will know it was in fact a cover story.

Yes, Frank James was there, as Pete Warren; his brother, Jesse James "died" out west, in 1882. JJ came EAST, later...

THINK! "Confederate War", over in April, 1865; TWENTY years later... Beale PAPERS is released to general public in Lynchburg, Va. in 1885.
