Edward Fitzgerald Beale(1822-1893) was a frontiersman who published his journals in 1850-"The Beale Papers",which are available from the LIBRARY of Congress.
The similarities between E F Beale's papers and Ward's pamphlet are hard to dismiss-here are just a few.
E F BEALE -1850 ----- ------- ----T J BEALE-1885 Ward's pamphlet
Started expedition in St Louis --- --- Left St Louis
Expedition had 30 men--- --- Expedition had 30 men
Went to Santa Fe --- --- Went to Santa Fe
Traveled in Colorado--- ---Found gold and silver in Colorado
Born in 1822 --- ---Letters to Morriss dated 1822,Ward born 1822
Published journal as "THE BEALE PAPERS"--- ---Ward pamphlet "THE BEALE PAPERS"
E F called "justley a lion" --- --- T J called "the Lion"
One journey listed as 1817 miles--- --- Started journey in 1817
Gold was NOT found by E F --- ---One of T J's men found the gold
Recieved $13,000 for an adventure--- --- Exchanged silver for $13,000 for transportation
Similar words and terms used in both "BEALE PAPERS"
EXACT LOCALITY
STAMPEDE
ABUNDANCE OF GAME
ACCESSION TO OUR NUMBERS
BUFFALOES
GRIZZLY BEARS
There are many others.
So the question arises-Happenstance,Coincidence,or Deliberate Plaglarism on the part of Ward to sell a concocted treasure story with one solved cipher solved, the other two unsolvable?
Or is the story a PERSHER CODE relating to a KGC treasure vault?

Possible. But a KGC connection is extremely unlikely and no real evidence to suggest otherwise. Ward could have plagiarized a bit, crafted the tale around existing materials, but then there is no real evidence that Ward was the author. "A lot" of evidence pointing to a simple factional published for profit and the entire lack of evidence to the opposite only serves to add further support to the factional for profit theory. When we look at the actual evidence and the absence of opposing evidence to the contrary it certainly makes the factional for profit theory the strongest possibility.

Well, here's the thing... PERSHER CODE could have been used; don't think it was a SCAM. I DO have a copy of a NUMBERS cipher utilized by Robert MORRIS (Financier) to George Washington; VERY similar to Ciphers in 1885 BC#1-3; MORRIS to
WASHINGTON, Aug. 22, 1781; from George Washington Papers (LOC).

I never said "scam" or that "it was" just a factional, only that we can't prove it to be anything other with the current evidence at hand.

E F Beale also knew Kit Carson,a subject of many of the western dime novels popular during the 1880's.
Is Ward's pamphlet just a western dime novel with a lost treasure story added to boost the selling price to 50 cents?
It contains all the adventures of the west that easterners loved to read about during that time.

MORRIS/Washington must have utilized a dictionary/"code book". Words are broken up into numbers; MUST be in the George Washington Papers in the Library of Congress. The words...
"Sorry to inform you that I find money matters in bad a situation as possible. The exchange by the concourse of.... has run down to five shillings..."; ALL on $$$$$$$$$$ matters for the War of Independence. THIS letter was signed by George Washington AND Robert MORRIS... FANCY penmanship!

It's all about the "ifs", they're whatever we want to make them out to be. When we look at the story it leaves the door open to an unlimited amount of speculation in regards to an unlimited amount of possible connections.

NOTHING "If" about MORRIS/Washington Ciphers... in the LIBRARY OF CONGRESS!

Don't sidestep the obvious-someone,be it Morriss, his wife,Ward,or the friendly tavern owner-had access to E F Beale's 1850 journal, and USED that journal as the basis for the T J Beale story.
The coincidences are TOO many to ignore.

Again, wouldn't have needed a copy. By 1880 E. F. Beales exploits of 1850 were common knowledge. After the Adams Onis Treaty of 1821 there wasn't a whole lot that went on in the territory that didn't become news/common knowledge. Western expansion was one of the hottest and most focused on topics in the country after the treaty. By 1880 thousands of people had traveled west through the territory. Stories of gold and fortune and various exploits abounded everywhere back east by the 1880's. Railway routes were even being considered and planned. By the 1880's the floodgates to the west had long been wide open.

DYK...? That when E.F. Beale took his US CAMEL CORPS across Arizona, he did so under the "order" of Jefferson Davis (Later to be CSA PREZ), when Jeff Davis was US Sec. of War or something...? There is even a MAP of the US CAMEL CORPS route "on-line"... Jeff Davis thought it was a GREAT idea! This was before the CONFEDERATE WAR...

Davis had nothing to do with it, he is simply given credit as having suggested it some years prior. The Camel road began in the 1850's and it is something that had been considered and evaluated by those above Davis for quite some time, which is also where the eventual go-ahead came from. Davis had no direct authority in deciding the matter.

LOL! YER just being "contrary"... ALL my R & I indicate that Jeff Davis, as US Secretary of War WAS the "BIG SOURCE"; "google" US CAMEL CORPS or www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Camel_Corps

Yes,the exploits of E F Beale would have been known in 1885,but would have everyone remembered E F or just remembered the name BEALE,35 years after the publishing of his journals?
That also does not explain the simularity of events, words and terms, and sometimes exact sentences from the 1850 "THE BEALE PAPERS" that appear in Ward's pamphlet.
This may not be the "smoking gun" you refer to in another thread, but it is A smoking gun.
The "CAMEL CORPS" endeavor occured in 1856,6 years after E F Beale published his journal, and yes indeed,Beale was in charge of this.
Camel driver,Haiji Ali (HI JOLLEY) is buried along with the ashes of the last army dromedary in Quartzsite,Arizona.

You are right Rebel. He also was the first man that suggested the Inter-Continental Railroad. I might add Jefferson Davis also was the man that helped to make the rifled cannons so they could shoot farther and more accurate.

Start researching all the correspondences on the subject. The "United States Government" had to pay for, and approve, these type of things. Even in the 1850's they didn't just hand their military over to a single man. If the big dogs would have said, "No" then E. F. Beale wouldn't have gone. :icon_thumleft: And the notion of cross country railroads were first entertained by speculators and entrepreneurs but they had to get approval to build them over state and federal lands. Again, there was a lot of discussion and debating of these proposals at "various levels" of government. Not being contrary at all, just looking at the whole picture instead of the pieces.

And the WHOLE "picture" to YOU is...?
