:hello: Could the CANALS be the "Vault" or Vaults for the Beale Treasure...? Beale Pamphlet was released to general public in 1885. Reading THE CANAL on the JAMES by T. Gibson Hobbs, Jr.; Lynchburg and Its Canal Era (pg 53-87)... GREAT info! GREAT "pics" of various "Locks" & caves... @ August 9, 1841- December 20, 1841... MANY "Locks & Caves" abandoned by the time of the CONFEDERATE WAR. The "pics" of some of these "Locks & Caves" are AWESONE! LOCKS... THE KEY! THINK about it! KNOW where I am going NEXT! LOL! :headbang:

State land?

HH Jay

James River... South-side - Campbell County, City of Lynchburg, Bedford County; North-side - Amherst County. From THE CANAL on the JAMES by T. Gibson Hobbs, Jr., pg. 54-55.... "below Lynchburg (follow) the south bank of the river in Campbell County (up)stream of the Mt. Athos plantation about 12 miles.... WEST to the waterworks dam at Lynchburg (SIX locks in this section).... at Blackwater Creek (near where TJB boarded at Robert MORRIS' house; Mayor of Lynchburg, Va - 1813)... for @ THREE months EACH time (WINTER); PLENTY of time to "plan"; written in 1885, to decide WHICH Lock/Cave could be used. I DO NOT Metal Detect... just "look around"; AGAIN! Get the book! "LOCUS OF CONTROL" would be Robert MORRIS' house; "within 4 miles" are SEVERAL BT "sites"... Old City Cemetery, a place near WHITE ROCK HILL... near RR Tracks, and now THIS! HA!
